An able and useful fast boat. not only will haven be a useful little craft for use after the war but she would be an excellent kind of boat to use in air craft rescue service. the draft is little, the speed high and ability to keep going in rough water assured. also the construction is simple and rugged.. The herreshoff 12 ½ is a sailboat that is typically owned by shore-dwelling summer folks in maine, and for good reason. beautiful, roomy, seaworthy and sweet-sailing, they are. Under justin's guidance i am going to build the haven's hull in this modern manner to provide a lightweight fast boat but finish the decks, cockpit and rigging as per joel white's plans to provide that classic look..
Haven 26 - #313 - on sale! the haven 26, 8' beam, is the latest of the haven houseboat series, all of which are very trailerable. the plans offer two versions, one with forward steering and the other with steering aft.. I have no problem with designs based on the original 12, although they haven't all been that successful. i love the fish, bb25, and alerion, while i'm not so enthralled by the bb14 & 17 and marlin (ccsb version with opaque cudahy)..
